BiblioMax Book Discussions

26 Jun

BiblioMax is a new book discussion series at Bookstacks lead by Maximillian Adderstein.

The purpose of BiblioMax is to allow for casual but engaging chat about books that make us think. It features a mix of old and new published titles with themes that rotate on a quarterly basis. Readers can get exposure to lots of different kinds of books, or they can simply plunge into a topic they love or are interested in.

Bibliomax will meet on the third Tuesday of every month at Bookstacks Pub at 5pm SLT.

The theme is “Dystopian Literaure” for the first quarter. Here is the book list for this period:

  • July 20: “The Unit” by Ninni Holmqvist
  • August 17: “Shades of Grey 1: The Road to High Saffron” by Jasper Fforde
  • September 21: “The Knife of Never Letting Go” by Patrick Ness

Max will provide a notecard for all participants that includes the cast of characters and some of the major plot threads. She will also prepare discussion questions to keep conversation flowing, but she hopes that participants will chat and allow the conversation to grow organically. The goal is to keep the group relaxed and casual to allow participants of all comfort levels to join the fun, so no hard analysis of themes and theories here (unless, of course, that’s what they decide to do).
