5:00-7:00 p.m. – Bootleggers’ Ball

A few weeks ago, Bookstacks planned to host a Bootleggers’ Ball following the fabulous vintage fashion show hosted by the Focus Agency. Second Life decided to kick up a fuss that evening, and we had to postpone the Ball until Saturday, July 18 (tomorrow) at 5 p.m. So, pull you fringed dresses, sparkly ballgowns, tuxes and zoot suits out of your inventory so you can attend!

Radio Riel will be spinning vintage tunes, so put on your dancing shoes.

Sunday

11:00 a.m. – Poetry & Pints

Poetry open mics abound in Second Life, providing poets with many opportunities to share their work. Poetry and Pints takes a slightly different focus. We ask folks to come to share works by their favorite poets. It is a great opportunity to discover some new writers as well as revisit your favorites.

3:00 p.m. – Poetry Libre’s Open Mic

Grab some verse and head over to this event hosted by Leonardo Zimring and Serene Bechir.

Upcoming Events

There are a couple of events I’d like to put on your radar for next weekend.

  • First, Bookstacks is welcoming the weekly Science Fiction Discussion group to the Pub.
  • Second, I am leading a non-fiction book discussion at the Virtually Speaking sim. We will be discussion The Purity Myth by Jessica Valenti (co-founder of Feministing.com and author of Full Frontal Feminism). I hope you have a chance to pick up the book and join us for the discussion.
