SATURDAY

Noon – Bookstacks Trivia: Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll

One of the questions in this week’s book quiz is: Name one of the drugs to which Sherlock Holmes was addicted.  If you can answer that question, you are in with a chance.  Come along at 12 noon, Saturday to answer questions on the theme of Sex’n’Drugs’n’Rock’n’Roll for a chance at 500L in prize money.  Dress to suit the theme and you could win 500L for best costume as well.

2:00 p.m. – Paranormal Book Club: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

Seth Grahame-Smith gently spoofs Jane Austin in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, creating a novel in which a lady is judged as much by her ability to wield a sword as by her manners. Join us as we discuss the sparring  and the dancing that takes place between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy.

6:00 p.m. – Musical Guest: Wendy Curtiss

Wendy Curtiss’ style ranges from country to blues to jazz and light rock. She enjoys keeping it varied, and feels that this is important to an audience. Wendy had the opportunity to open for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw at the Gorge, in Washington, a few summers ago. Since 1996, Wendy has produced 4 CDs of original material, recording with the finest musicians the Northwest has to offer. Her music has recieved attention in Nashville, as well as Austin, Texas. Give her a listen. Her strong, soulful vocals and creative guitar style will capture your heart!

Book lovers enjoy talking about what they are reading almost as much as they enjoy diving into a book. Join us for this informal gathering to talk about what you are reading, what is on your mind, and some of life’s big questions, like which avatar should you wear to your next event. Everyone welcome.

Adele Ward is an accomplished, published poet, as well as a literary force in Second Life. Adele will talk about her new book, her career as a poet, and the work she does in Second Life at Written Word. The recording session is open to the public, and afterward, audience members can ask Adele questions.
