Are you leading a book discussion?

I’d like to start compiling a list of book discussions taking place in Second Life. It often takes several days/weeks to complete a book in time for a discussion, so I think having a list would be helpful. If you have an discussion taking place, please contact me in world or by email at kghia.gherardi at gmail.com.

This weekend at Bookstacks

Saturday

  • Noon – Book Trivia: Dark
I would love to tell you what the questions in Saturday’s quiz are, but Simeon wouldn’t be happy with that.  So unfortunately, I have to leave you in the dark.  But I’m sure you have read a dark title or two – Stephen King immediately comes to mind…but even if you haven’t, fastest googler gets the points, or just guess.  The one with the most points at the end takes home the 500L prize.  Dress to suit the theme and you could win 500L for best costume as well.
  • 2:00 p.m. – Author Reading: Glenn ManewellCANCELED
Glenn appeared on the ill-fated fifth episode of Off the Shelf. If you didn’t get a chance to hear this talented Science-Fiction/Fantasy author, today is your chance.

Sunday

  • 11:00 a.m. – Book Lovers’ Sunday Social
Join other book lovers to discuss what we are reading, watching and living. Usually a fun, light-spirited discussion. This week we are meeting at the Cafe on the square in Bohemia (slurl). Everyone is welcome.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Off the Shelf Taping: Dulcie Mills & JJ Drinkwater
This week’s guests are both librarians in Second Life, and they will talk about what that means in a virtual world. They will also talk about some of their personal projects. We will also be announcing the winner of the Traitor give-away. A live audience is always welcome at an Off the Shelf taping, or you can down load the podcast later.
  • 3:00 p.m. – Poetry Libre Open Mic
A weekly event, hosts Serene Bechir and Leonardo Zimring invite poets and fans to share their work.

Next weekend we have our Paranormal Book Discussion taking place. I hope you have brushed up on Anne Rice’s An Interview with a Vampire because discussion leader, Lukos Tairov has been.
