NaNoWriMo @ Bookstacks

(Inter)National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is upon us, and while Bookstacks is not a writers’ community, we do support the writers within Second Life.

Write-ins

Bookstacks will be hosting write-ins throughout the month. Each session is an hour, but you are welcome to stay longer.

To inject a little fun, we assign themes to the write-ins as an excuse to dress up; participation is completely optional. Also, you are welcome to find a comfy place anywhere on Bookstacks Isle to write at any time.

We will also be posting a daily suggestion to  incorporate into your writing if you wish. It will give you something to write about when your juices dry. The prompt will be posted in both the Bookstacks group and the NaNoWriMo SL group.

Prize

Bookstacks will give away a month’s stay on the Second Life cruise ship SS Galaxy to one SL NaNoWriMo participant. To win, you need to complete 50,000 words by Nov. 30 as verified by http://www.nanowrimo.org/ and register for the draw at the Bookstacks Pub.

New Events in November

In November Bookstacks is hosting a couple of new events.

NaNoWriMo Events

It is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). While Bookstacks focuses on events for readers, we do like to support the writers in our community. With that in mind, we are going to host at a couple of write-in events each week.

Additionally, we are going to give away a month’s stay on board the S.S. Galaxy to one of the registrants who completes 50,000 words by Nov. 30.

Between the Covers – Romance Readers Group

I’ve been inspired by Jago Constantine’s Science Fiction Saturdays group, and I thought I would try the same with Romance readers. This is a bi-weekly discussion about what romance novels you are reading. We have a number of romances authors in Second Life, so it may be a great opportunity to talk with them about what they are writing as well. This event will be held on Wednesday, November 4 and 19 from 6-7 p.m.

Kghia and Simeon’s Anniversary Party

Simeon and I are celebrating our second anniversary at partners at the end of November. We are going to hold a party on the final weekend (I know, it is Thanksgiving Weekend in the US), and you are all invited. I’ll post more details when we have them worked out.
