OK, I’ve been a slacker on posting to the blog this week. I apologize and promise to do better. Really, I do. That said, here are the upcoming events for Bookstacks.
Noon – Book Trivia: High Life and Low Lives
What high life and low lifes have you read about? Simeon will try to challenge your memory (and googling skill) this Saturday at noon when he asks questions about that very topic. Limber up your fingers, as the fastest with the right answers will win the 500L prize… Dress to suit the topic and you could win another 500L for doing so.
6:00 p.m. – Musical Guest: HatHead Rickenbacker
HatHead has played Bookstacks before, but this is his first performance at Bookstacks Isle. He performs on keyboards, creating rich tapestries of music and sound in real time, every performance exploring new fusions of jazz, blues, electronica and world music.
11:00 a.m. – Book Discussion: Books & Food
From Proust’s madelines to Fast Food Nation, food is a favorite topic of writers and readers. On Sunday, share you food and reading experiences. Feel free to bring favorite recipes on a notecard, and I’ll share them with the group after I’ve collected them all.
3:00 p.m. – Poetry Libre Open Mic
As always, Serene Bechir and Leonard Zimring lead a trust band of poets through the open mic experience. New poets and old friends share their work, and everyone is welcome.
11:00 a.m. – Cozy Mystery Discussion: Death of a Charming Man (M.C. Beaton)
Lludmila Mirrikh will lead a discussion of our first Cozy Mystery reading group. Please note the time should be conducive to our European members.
